Southwest is generous with nonrefundable canceled tickets in that the ticketed passenger gets a credit in that amount valid for 1 year. (they were more generous when anyone could use it)

If one was to book a ticket using funds from a previously canceled ticket, and then cancel the new ticket, would that extend the life of the funds another year?

I'm thinking it would as now the funds would be issued under the new ticket locater #.

Anyone do this successfully or have any experience with this?
