The above info is correct regarding muni water with the exception for the north where tap water possibly has a high arsenic level.
Places that are not connected to muni treated water, well water for instance, can also have problems due to contamination from septic tanks, agro runoff, industry, etc.
Muni water in Chile can taste nasty due to the chlorine content. It is also fluoridated for those who have that concern.
