On the Canon side of the fence, I think the newer G-series PowerShots (G10 and above) can take a remote cable release. The newer S-series supports shutter release upon detecting a smile (which seems to work surprisingly well when I've tried it on my S95).

In addition, if you have a camera which CHDK can be loaded onto then you can use that with a USB trigger like the Ricoh CA-1.
