Had this issue twice in the last month. Both at Category 2 hotels. Made Cash & Points reservations on spg.com. Showed up on the SPG website as "1600 points + $30 + charges and taxes". Clicked "Terms and Details" on the site, rate shows "1600 points + $30 + $xx taxes". Went to the hotel to check in and they give me a key card that says the C&P rate is $40 + taxes instead of $30 + taxes. Called SPG customer service and they say they show $40 in their system because this was an "upgraded" room (corner room, room with a sofabed, etc.). On the SPG site, there is no difference in any of the C&P rates, they all say 1600 points + $30, yet for certain room types it gets recorded in their system at a higher rate. At the first hotel, I had to show them printouts of screen shots from the website for them to credit back the additional $10 +taxes. Wasted an hour on the phone with SPG customer service tonight doing the same thing. Anyone else have similar issues recently?
