LHR is alright for direct flights, but I would never choose to connect through it.
You make a lot of good points. I guess the main reason is I like an airline which speaks English (or Hebrew) and where people/crew generally have manners (eliminates the Hebrew ones ..

) All the airlines in the United States are pretty substandard, so that's what I'm left with.
The couple times I've been totally destroyed by things like weather, BA has taken
exceptionally good care of me. So I realize I might be at slightly higher risk for issues, but I know when issues happen, they have my back. Also, their business class hard product is pretty damn good...so yes, LHR is a royal pain often, but when it is, BA can usually make up for it.
(Please don't mistake me for a BA apologist based on the above!)
