Turkish Airlines to Air India transfer

Hi,

I have an odd situation. I am flying out on Turkish Airlines from USA (Washington DC) to Mumbai and then connecting to Hyderabad on Air India. However, they are 2 separate tickets, one for DC-> BOM from Turkish Airlines and another BOM->HYD purchased from Air India directly.

I understand I have to retrieve my checked baggage and clear customs. But would Air India honor Turkish Airlines free baggage allowance (2 bags of 23kg each)? Or do I have to pay for additional checked bag? Of-course my Air India e-Ticket lists that only 25kg is allowed, but if I am international passenger departed from US, can they allow 2 free checked bags. Also Air India has some Interlining with Turkish Airlines.

Anybody know answer or had a similar situation with other airline combinations etc?

Thanks
Venkat
