Welcome to the BA Forum.
The South Galleries are more spacious, and have the advantage of housing The Spa, which you'll be entitled to use as a Club World passenger. In addition, South has the cinema, which is a decent place to watch TV.
I usually go to the South Galleries when travelling long haul.
In my recent experience of the North Galleries, I'd have to agree that it's been quite full, but it has a "terrace" (indoors, but outside the lounge), similar to the Concorde room and GF, where you hear less of the noise of the louge, and more of the noise of the terminal. I've always enjoyed this area, so would tend to go to the North Galleries when traveling SH, or not having access to the Spa.
I've never managed to be told that my flight is leaving from T5B in time to get over to the B lounge to get a Spa treatment, but I'm informed that if you do get notified in advance, that this can be a good way of getting a treatment if the South Spa is fully booked.
