Can I clarify that if I have Mileage Plus and I redeem on SQ, the surcharges would be lower than if I redeem using KrisFlyer? How about availability? Would it be harder to redeem on SQ using Mileage Plus than using KrisFlyer in general? I often take side trips out of SIN to neighboring countries so even if I can't redeem on my NY-SIN flights I could at least use my miles for these shorter flights.

Also, right now I get an extra luggage allowance with SQ as I am a KrisFlyer Gold. If I have the Mileage Plus Premier Gold, would I still get this extra allowance?
