JFK is delay prone, as can be Logan. The worst delays are usually for short, domestic flights like BOSJFK
I fly this route regularly (often, twice a week), and have found the flights to be extraordinarily reliable.
When I travel BOS-SFO or BOS-LAX, I go via JFK. I'd probably do the same with an 8-month-old.
