Location: Formerly at PIT, now planted near MSP.
Programs: No flights since April 2019 (Medical Issues). Lost all my status.

Tell her to make friends with her seat mates during the flight. After they have gotten to know each other, she should then ask them the pay phone question. I'll bet the seat mates will let her use their cell phones for a quick call after landing. Problem solved.

Other solution .... Most US airport cell phones take credit cards.
