Most London boroughs have Olympic banners up now, paid for by the Mayors office. Islington refused on ideological grounds.
There is considerable interest in the Olympics as witnessed by the crowds in the towns and cities where the flame goes. However, what has been a dampener is the way ticket sales have been handled for UK residents, repeated stories of foreign Olympic officials selling tickets under the table, the huge cost, and of course all the warnings about how bad travel will be.
My personal views are that the city will be a nightmare on transport, and that TFL are deliberately playing this down. Many companies have therefore not planned what to do or rather how much to do, to accommodate this.
I am sure we will have three weeks of complaining and bad press stories about how bad things are. But welcome to the UK in 2012, it's always like this now.
