indeed this seems to be the advice from the agents these days. It used to be that they could just make a change, and sometimes you wouldn't be charged the fee for that... but now it seems to be the whole cancel thing and rebook, and they don't guarantee the seats for the rest of the segments will still be available.

wheresmybagba meant to cancel the C-cl ticket. There's no need to cancel the holding and untouched flight segments...
But if you change your award from C-cl to F-cl then you don't have any choice than to cancel the ticket and issue a new one, for the known fee, except for CP's...
