Hi all. Reading about the topic I had to admit to have some serious objections regarding the rename issue. First of all because I was also used to the concept shrine for Shinto and temple for Buddhism etc. Looking from a wider perspective Laplap has a point. Shinto is considered different from all other religions. It will make no difference for a living soul or kami if it is called a temple or shrine. The idea stays the same, so is the concept. Everyone knows what he or she has to do or not to do. One comes for worshipping the local kami (s), another one for praying for mankind.
