I always wondered if the KLM instruction: "Cabin crew, arm slides" was a reference to getting the J seats in the correct position for takeoff

Sounds like you might get KLM Gold using the "30 flights" route.

I was in the same position a year ago, and decided to let my KLM/AF lapse, and switch to BA.
