I think you can clear Immigration at USM, and interline your bags through BKK, in which case you will be airside at BKK with limited options, although some shops and restaurants are sure to be open.

I think you could also stay as a domestic passenger to BKK, then be land-side with perhaps more options. Not sure about baggage options in this case, and you'd have to clear Immigration departing BKK.
