Something Fishy at BA
At issue was a cloud of doubt over my love and loyalty for BA. The T5 first class lounge seemed overly full, and to find a comfortable chair I finally retreated to the most remote corner of the champagne and wine section. Then I realised that so much of the lounge seating area is just plain uncomfortable. The leather sofas and the armchairs all have sunk-in pillows that put the users into a painful slouch; a great many of the upholstered seats have an almost vertical backrest requiring hunched shoulders to endure. In short, the bulk of lounge seating is almost as bad as the ghastly little pods to and from Business Parking.
My back and I were nurturing a feeling of displeasure as I wandered to find that elusive comfortable chair. And then I saw it. The buffet today consisted of lovely battered cod, chips and mushy peas with fresh lemons and tartar sauce. And the salad bar had a bowl of rollmops herrings! A fish-lovers paradise. All my doubts about wonderful BA evaporated that moment. Of all the airport lounges (apart from Sacndinavia), where could you find such a choice on fishy Fridays?
