Not that I care that much, since I haven't used my LifeMiles account for years, but I did notice one odd thing in the "Avianca and TACA Airlines join Star Alliance"-email:

Also, you can redeem your LifeMiles for airline tickets on operated flights by the member airlines¹ to fly to more than 1,200 destinations in 193 countries!

Terms and Conditions
¹ Star Alliance member airlines may change at any time and the agreements may vary with each one. With TAM Airlines you do not earn miles, redeem tickets or upgrades.

Why is that?
