take the bus from Lima to Paracas. don't drive ! You can get to all the places around Paracas i.e. Ica etc. with the major Peruvian bus lines: Ormeņo, Cruz del Sur, Oltursa. the buses can be quite comfortable also. Especially in 1st class.
