I made 1 MM on 3/2 with the adjustment. Was very close at end of 2011 so wrote and nicely asked for the SWU and RWU they used to award. Figured the worse they could say was no.

But I received a nice reply and the upgrades, which i have used successfully since.

The companion status match has worked nicely for Mrs. PDXTom and me, with reasonable upgrade success when traveling together, to my pleasant surprise. Probably just favorable routes as even alone on other routes (PDX-IAD) I have often been 10 to the 23 power down the Upgrade list at the gate post merger.

And since i will never make 2MM, no longer obsessing over the need to do United BIS has been liberating, particularly flying on the west coast where Alaska and Southwest offer better direct routes to many locations.
