If both UA and AA operate the non stops you need for work, switching to DL seems inappropriate, even if you can get a DL credit card somehow with lots of recent hard pulls. Connecting time depends on the airport, time of day, season, etc. but there are official minimum connecting times. The distance from gate to gate for DL connections can be far, especially at ATL.
