Somewhat risky as the posters above mention, and if you miss the BA flight you're on your own to buy a new ticket (which for a flight of this length is not at all cheap).

Why not consider flying the nonstop PEK-LGW CA flight (I believe it's operated by one of their new A330s) or BA nonstop from PEK?
