This hotel has one of the best lounges in the US that I have seen and has a great location.

However, I don't think that can overcome the general hatred that the staff (at least those outside of the lounge, as the lounge staff were all fantastic) have for guests. Agents at check-in have a "I don't care attitude," and when my bill had an internet charge on it (for the higher speed internet even thought I'm platinum), the agent I spoke with to have it removed wanted to argue with me for a minute. I just asked that it be removed as I'm plat and the internet should be free. But apparently it wasn't as black and white as I figured. Now, weeks after my stay, I'm having trouble getting my "green choice" points. I stayed for 3 nights and asked for the green choice each day but have only received 500 points, not 1000. The hotel has told the SPG plat desk that I received housekeeping services on the third day and therefore only get 500 points.

Agents at hotels that actually care would not hassle guests as much as they do at The Nines. I guess the hotel does well enough that it doesn't have to provide actual service in order to fill the rooms.

That said, the lounge was enough of a draw that I might have to sell my soul and stay here again the next time I'm in PDX, althought I might have to try the Monaco.
