Home, hotel, wherever you want it as far as I know. I landed in OMA and my luggage didn't make it. I was headed to my then home in DSM. My bag made it early the next morning. The tags indicated that the bag had gone from OMA back to DEN then to DSM, where it was delivered by a courier. I would guess something similar would happen if there was an airport with commercial service nearby.
