Please do not tolerate this any longer! Contact your CC company now regardless of promises made and get the charge reversed. Also advise your travel desk so they can avoid booking this property. And share your story with the other team members so they can check their accounts too! They have violated the terms of your reservation and their merchant agreement (I would presume). Rogue operations like this are likely to condone ID theft and with the number of people that don't review their statements on a regular basis will get ripped off.
If your office has a legal department, get them to write a letter to *wood describing the details and request their immediate investigation of the incident. Ask them to copy your CC company requesting the same. Any bets you will be notified of the credit within hours of that hitting their desk?
My bet is this is not only inappropriate but illegal in both countries!
