Unpleasant experience at the Westin Gurgaon, India
The Westin in Gurgaon is nice enough hotel, nice architectural design that is also shared by the rooms. I usually stay in five star hotels about 200 days a years and over the years I've developed a pretty good sense as to the functioning of a hotel when I check in. As a hotel, its top drawer. Re employees, it needs improvement. I stayed eight days here and the predominant theme is the lack of employee professionalism to include public arguments with guests. Some of the front desk staff are atrocious.
Another example and the reason for this rant is this outlet's unauthorized use of my credit card two weeks after I departed. In essense I was one of eight people on a business trip to Gurgaon. It turned out that one person could not make the journey.
Two weeks after I departed the hotel charged me for that persons room. Neither my reservation nor my card have anything to do with the other person. I didn't discover this unauthorized use of my card until mid-May when I was reviewing my credit card statement.
I contacted the hotel and they advised that they would reverse the transaction if I could provide the other person's cc information. Since my card had nothing to do his transaction I was flabbergasted that they were holding my card hostage.
Last week they agreed to reverse the charge and hopefully i will see it sometime so.
I was thinking of complaining to the Westin or Starwood but I see that effort falling into a blackhole replete with canned language replies voicing their understanding and concern.
Has anyone else had a experience like this? Curiously the last time it happened to me was also in India. In Delhi at the Imperial. It took two months for them to issue the credit for what was their accounting error.
Happy trails,
