Indeed the opposite is nearly always the case where the airline will continue to deny compensation is payable when circumstances would clearly dictate otherwise.

A strongly worded claim letter to the airlines registered offices will rarely have any effect. IME only a small claims court claim (or equivalent) would register anything other than indifference from the airline and then you would have to be persistent, invest some of your own time and ride a certain amount of luck to be successful.
so basically you are just saying let it go and chalk it up to bad luck? haha
