I had trouble yrs ago when on a ZFV tkt, where eventually COs and Amtraks computers began speaking to each other. If you didnt ride Amtrak up from Philly your tkt was CXed some folks tkt was CXed on the Outbound others for the Inbound. Of cause once I said where should I bring my bag tag and BP to that I indeed flew on the OutBound flight as I was tkted got my InBound put back in place.

But it seems the burden of proof is on the passenger and I understand fully why. Again I was never called a Liar or making it up and neither should the OP have been, even if in fact they never flew ORD-EWR!
Wow! PMCO must have done a great job of training their passengers if you really believe it's acceptable for them to behave like that.

Proper customer service, which was mostly what I used to receive on PMUA, would not hold the passenger guilty until proven innocent, unless the story truly made no sense. That does mean that a certain amount of abuse will get past them, but they can track such issues with their "best in the business" computer system if they want to catch people with an unlikely pattern of such incidents.
