Because of glitches with ba.com, available award itineraries involving connections on AA do not always show up. You can book each segment as a separate award on ba.com, or you can phone BAEC and book everything on a single award. The cost in Avios will be the same either way, but BAEC might try to ding you with a $25 telephone booking fee if you call in. You can ask for the fee to be waived, arguing that ba.com is malfunctioning by not displaying the connecting flights, but there are no guarantees that BAEC will waive the fee.

By the way, do the available flights in fact make a true "connection"? If the ground time in ORD is more than four hours, it is not considered a connection.
