Doesn't Ireland use British 3-pin plugs (well at least the hotels I've stayed in has).

I'm guessing that the power sockets with the round pins are ones that they didn't want their customers using and were designed for plugging in things like lamps.

That said I can't ever recall finding a proper socket a problem in bmi lounges, but I can't remember offhand where, but they're around.
