That's where I started from, but checking the rules I can't find anything that doesn't include having a boarding pass for a departing flight ...

I still think there is a good chance of getting in at that time of the morning, but I can't find a rule that 100% allows it ...
The rule says that you must be traveling in Business Class on a trans-continental flight on the same day. It does not say that you have to be departing from the airport whose Admirals Club you wish to enter. I've gotten same-day Admirals Club access at both JFK and LAX when my only flight for the day was JFK-LAX in Business.

As previously mentioned, the AC should treat arrival at JFK on a red-eye as "same day" for purposes of lounge entry. No guarantees, but I think access will be granted.

I would not show any oneworld credential upon entry, as that would only confuse the issue; I would just show the Business Class boarding pass.
