Sounds like something that might need to be sorted out by BA or BAA.
That would be BA's TRMs (Turn Around Managers). Although anyone in theory can "press the button" to turn on the stand guidance but the TRM has a responsibility to ensure the guidance is setup for the correct aircraft type, that the ramp is free of obstructions and anything else that could cause damage to the aircraft.
May well be that your TRM was stuck with another delayed service and couldn't get to your aircraft in time...
