Sounds like hocum to me. If the pressure wasn't safe for an infant, would an airline allow infants in the cabin?
(My kids have flown a fair bit, with the youngest going from London to Vegas at about 6 weeks old. We didn't have the cabin pressure adjusted and he's fine).

If the FA agreed, I am sure it was a "phantom" adjustment. Infants fly in the cabin all the time.
