Well, any SDCs are supposed to made such that the new itinerary still complies with the fare rules. This includes the 4-hour limit on any layovers. Thus, depending on the length of your meeting and when you show back up at DTW, DL could possibly say that you're no longer within the rules of the SDC program and level a change fee and such.
