OK. but I'm not searching for a multi segment itinerary (LGA-MSP, MSP-TPA). I'm searching LGA to TPA by schedule (6am departure out of LGA, 2pm departure from TPA). Many options appear (thru DTW, ATL, MEM & MSP) appear. Perhaps Delta is booking 4 one way segments thru MSP but why they would automatically give me that option I don't know? Doesn't make sense to me but again it's delta.dump so who knows. I will call tomorrow to assess the situation with DL Agent.
N.B. I could route through another connection but that's only minimal mileage gain. ATL is pointless and DTW/MEM only give 100-200 add'l miles. Hardly worth the effort.
Just post your Fare Basis Code and someone can look up the routing rules on KVS or ExpertFlyer. You can find it by looking at Trip Details & Options in My Trips on delta.com. At the bottom, in the Payment Details section, click on Details next to the Ticket #. In the Itinerary window that is displayed, look in the Flight Information section in the Fare Basis Code column and give us the 8 character code that you find there (something like TA21R2SP).
