Any more recent reviews of this property? (There are two ES DT/LS threads here but the other one's most recent post is 2006.)

We have a stay booked for late October. I'm sort of taken aback by the high rates we're seeing on the weekend we've picked (Oct 25-29, $217/nt.), so I'm wondering if we're there on some sort of large convention weekend. Or maybe it's a case where I've booked so far out that they haven't loaded cheaper fall weekend rates...

In any case, we'll be there likely as newly-minted Diamonds. Worst case, Gold...

All Marriotts, Starwoods, Hiltons, and even Priority Clubs downtown are over $200/nt. Many over $300/nt. Are people gearing up for a Cubs World Series or something? Any Chicagoans here know what's going on that weekend? I know it's not Marathon weekend...

The other hotel I considered was the Doubletree at 20k points + $70/nt. Since we have 4 people in the room, we figured the extra space would be worthwhile. If the whole city is approaching sold out, I figure elite upgrades might not happen at the full-service hotels.
