You are a little confused, OP, so I will enlighten you!

FT, miles collecting etc is ASPIRATIONAL, in general. You don't see much on FT about collecting points for redeeming at an Ibis, or how to get a good price at Premier Inn. Avios collecting MUST be aspirational, frankly, because the taxes make it pointless to redeem in Y anyway. And if people are working towards something aspirational, they are likely to want to learn more about what they are aspiring to, and to complain if things are not as they should be.

I actually feel a bit sad, these days, that I don't really get excited by J or even BA F (much) these days. The last time I was genuinely excited about a flight was 3 years ago when I got rerouted at the last minute into a First Class Suite on an Emirates A380.

And, by the way, someone in F has the same right to complain about no caviar as as Y pax has about getting a stale bread roll.
