Question Advice needed from IAH savvy travelers

Hi and thanks for all your advice in advance..I routinely travel PHL/EWR-xxx-PSP about every two weeks..generally trying to conect in LAX or SFO as a second choice...Due to recent schedule changes involving PHL flights, my usual comfortable buffer connect time in SFO on all of my return flights has been shortened to 1 hour..which can be tense as flow control can delay the CRJ from PSP to SFO...options I have would be a PSP-LAX-IAH-PHL routing in Janurary February etc and onwards (no daytime LAX-PHL nonstops exist)..I have R class confirmed,(and no R on EWR nonstops open for my dates) and can do so on the new itineraries...Can experienced IAH connecting travelers tell me if this city routinely suffers delays in the winter months..SFO with fog/etc etc is always a gamble...what would you do?
