For my typical award flight use $0.01/mile is a good value. I'd probably double the value to at least $0.02/mile if I was trying to associate a "cost" to a gift to a friend.
But even if I book the ticket it will still count as "selling" right? Sigh, I hate to say no to helping a friend...
