Differences between Gold and GGL
Hi. I've been a Gold member of the Executive Club for the last few years and reached 4k tier points last year. This year I have hit 2.5k in 6 months and am destined to achieve a similar score as last year. The Executive Club have actually sponsored me to give me GGL status already given my history and the number of flights I have already booked. This is all great but i'm trying to work out what the differences really are between Gold and GGL other than the jokers, additional lounge access and dedicated phone line.
When i log onto my BA account I cannot see anything that signifies that i am a GGL member. When flying last week i asked in the lounge if they could see what my status is but they said all they can see is gold.
I called the GGL with a few flight queries and they told me that they can clearly see me as a GGL member. I have to say though, i found the GGL staff cold and a bit rude to be honest. The Gold line members are much nicer and more helpful which i really found strange.
I flew from MIA to LHR last week as a GGL member for the first time and i got upgraded from J to F for the 1st time in about 100 flights. I thought wow, this GGL is a good thing. Whilst on board i managed to see the flight manifest for F and it showed me as a Gold with a CIV score of 68, this implies to me that maybe my status isn't showing as GGL on all systems as i should have a CIV score of 97.
I have two points from my ramble. One is that I'm not sure i'm coming across as a GGL member on all systems. The other is about what differences i really should expect as a GGL member compared to Gold. For instance, i was surprised to see that my boarding pass still shows me as Gold, I thought my new status might be reflected here at least. For the most part, i don't see too many differences between the tiers.
