Just to update you I have no idea what happened. On checking in at EDI they could not process a pay for upgrade but kindly emailed LHR to alert them, also as there were at that time 15 seats vacant in club, they also flagged us for an opup.

Asked at London re a paid for upgrade, said they would page us when they became available. Nothing Club was full when we boarded, we were in the first row of wt+ and could here conversations from passengers in front who had in there words never flown BA so this upgrade was a lovely surprise etc etc.

Of course, it could have been operational reasons, a new marketing approach or maybe we are two blackballed silvers!! If it's the latter, just wondering what has DH been up to on his business trips !
