It probably is same as Pigx link to the post I made some months ago - the UA system fails to communicate ticket # to some partners. (The COdbaUA apologists say its that the other airline has bad IT- ha!) COdbaUA knows about this - but they don't care.
So, you have a UA-issued ticket, and really it's UA's responsibility - they cannot force TK to make award space available for you, but UA can do a long sell, and some agents (hint: not those that come from the CO side) might be willing to do it for you. It's UA's fault, but the new attitude is "we don't care".
Do you have any status? Your best hope is to get a sympathetic seasoned rep in certain US call center. If you get a former-CO rep or even a UA rep that tells you they can't do anything, politely say you'll have to think about things, don't change anything for now and call back till you get the right agent. Don't push the CO reps - they may make note on your PNR.

I have a MileagePlus award reservation IST-(TK)-VIE-(OS)-PRG-(TP)-LIS. 12500 mile award, 23-hour connections in VIE and PRG.
Looking at my reservations online I notice that the IST-VIE segment simply disappeared. No communication from UA about it, I simply happened to notice. I called UA, and they went "hmmm". They claim that TK canceled the segment. They called TK and were having language barriers communicating. UA can't reinstate the segment because there are no more award seats on that day IST-VIE. They suggest I call back tomorrow daytime, when the TK US desk is open and they may communicate with TK.
I checked my original TK flight. It still exists, same flight number, same schedule, and still available for sale. Just no reward seats available on it.
Has anyone here had something like this happen? What recommendation can you provide to reinstate the itinerary? Can TK be forced to reopen award inventory? Or am I hosed? Help!
