It is an official seat map (cabin configuration) designation, which appears on GDSs (from where ExpertFlyer gets their data). On BA IIRC it appears only 3 calendar days before the flight.

I am very surprised that this forum (or the outstanding thebasource.com, for what matters) doesn't track these cabin configuration codes like the CX forum does; on BA I have seen 777 seatmap designations labeled 77N, 77F, 77C, 7&X, 77S, and 77A. They clearly, and easily, differentiate an interior from another, and make life much easier.
