I had a rather long (10-night) stay at the Hilton Tower Bridge that ended last week. This continues to be a great hidden gem for HHonors hotels in London. Some may think it is far away; it is a Tube/train ride to Charring Cross, Leister Square, Covent Garden, etc. But I'd prefer that, as the area immediately around the property is a bit more quiet in the evenings and weekends.
This was my 7th stay at the property, and was upgraded to an exec room for the whole time (12th floor, but a room on the south side this time).
I've done reviews on this property before, and I don't really have anything new to add. However, the hotel is just beginning to show its age. Some of the fixtures and carpet may need to be replaced, but I'd say they won't do it for another 4-5 years. But that's nit picking.
I was lucky enough to stay at this property during the Regatta on the Thames. The property provided wrist bands for access to the river in the More London area. As it was raining (pouring at times), we watched on tv in the room, then when the boats hit the Waterloo bridge, we headed down. We got right in with the wristbands, and got spots with a nice view of all of the boats. Yes I did see the Queen, well her backside at least (she should have turned around once in a while and not just looked to the Tower side of the river). Anyway, one can't complain for being out in the rain for just ~30 min.
As the weather for most of the trip (up until the jubilee celebrations) was very nice (record highs), we were able to use the balcony while enjoying the lounge offerings. The lounge here continues to amaze me. It may not be big, but they do a fantastic spread of food...from a full breakfast, to snacks, to an amazing tea, to quite a good selection of pre-dinner snacks (I'm sure you could make a dinner out of it if you wanted).
As this was my 7th stay here, I do like it best of the London properties I've stayed at (the others were Kensington and Islington). It was a very easy trip to Dover, right from London Bridge Railway station (too bad Oxford required a slog out to Paddington). It is also an easy ride out to Stratford, to explore the new mall and get some great views of the Olympic site. Yea it is a bit of a slog from Heathrow, but we've become experts navigating the Tube change at Green Park.
Without a doubt, I'd stay here again while in London.
