Obviously I prefer #1, but I can't seemed to get it for 65k. That's why I'm trying to ask if there is a way I can do this. Since when I tried Kayak to price SFO -> TPE -> HKG -> SFO, I get back results SFO - > TPE -> HKG -> TPE -> SFO (Says the return from HKG to SFO has 1 stop at TPE). This is with EVA airline.

How can you book UA award on
Kayak?
1) impossible unless you stop at 1 of the 3 cities less than 24 hours.
2) Call UA reservation to book award with stopover.
Check
EVA award chart about the peak season.
You can't book any BR flight by using UA miles in peak season.
