As one of the first to ring the alarm with regard to PMCO, I know exactly what you mean by procedural diminish meant of benefits. But for quite some time, many of us had no idea why our PMCO upgrade rates were in the toilet...we just knew they were, so I bolted in 2009. In the end, it doesn't matter why benefits decrease...if they do, ffs will dislike it no matter why. Notice the "if".

AA matches to top tier WAY less than any other airline. UA and DL will do it pretty much whenever. US will sell it to anyone!
If that's true, then I should place a call either way soon as I am about to be only Gold next year...being 1k is certainly going to be a whole lot better...but something tells me that I won't get that status or even a challenge...not to speak of RPUs or GPUs...and when I did my DL match a couple of years ago, I got matched to Plat only and no SWUs or elite rewards...while AA have traditionally been more stingy with matches, the current match is unprecedented in its generosity as far as I can think back (about 10 years).

Sure, I'd love to be able to still get two free systemwide award tickets in First for 75K like in the old days. Or get promos of a free domestic First for simply flying 5 segments. But those ships sailed long, long ago.
Not like I have any choice at this point...
