You can change into any other booking class without paying the difference as long as the new fare is the same(or less) as your old fare

Same fare class (booking code) is necessary to keep any penalties to a minimum. Same Day Change is $75.00 within a 24-hour window. If you go into a higher fare class (ie, Q, B, H, etc.) you will be paying the $75.00 plus the difference in fare.
International ticket might be a different story altogether.
