Time is money to vendors (air carriers too). Just like many companies, CSR's are trained to end calls once there's a point of no return, partially in the hope that the problem child customer does take his business elsewhere.

OP has certainly been flagged. He'll find that out someday when he's got a legitimate complaint that actually involves UA.
