Thumbs down parking attendant at casino claimed $20 play necessary to exit free!

All you need to do is to play even as little as a dollar a day at the casino with your casino player's club card (free sign up).
I don't know if this has suddenly changed, or if I simply had a misinformed (and yet extremely obstinate) exit gate attendant, but:

I went into the Casino and requested the card. The explained to me that I wouldn't earn anything until I'd reached $20 of gambling, but that I could use the card to exit free before that. (That much jived with what I had been told here.)

I played somewhere less than $5. (I'm not sure how much because I found the machine I played second very confusing. I started out getting a $5 ticket for my US$5 bill. I played a machine that only cost 10c once but didn't want to play it again. I moved onto a more conventional slot machine that said it cost 50c, and played "2", thinking that would cost me $1, but the machine at the point spat out a ticket worth only 40 cents. So did I actualy bet $4.50? Anyway, I pushed some buttons, finally things spun, at some point then I pushed "redeem" or whatever it's called, and I got a $5 ticket back. So I now had one $5 ticket and one 40 cent ticket. Took that to cashier, but when I asked for US$, they only gave me $5 back. Oh, well, nothing gained but nothing lost either! I think this means I played $4.60 total, but I'm not sure.

Btw, half the machines would read my card, but I only played once they said they did read my card.

Anyway, I then left the parking lot, and the machine at the exit didn't like my card. So the attendant asked that I hand it to her. She than said that I hadn't played $20, and thus I needed to pay $5 to exit. I told her I'd been told the contrary when I got the card. She just repeated what she'd said before. She repeated it like a dozen times after that. I told her to call the PAC desk but she refused. Finally she said "I'll take down your number so you can't do this again" and let me out. (This was after about 5 minutes of arguing!) Fine, I don't plan to be there again anyway (but I didn't tell her that!).

But is this really the effort that it takes to save $5 on parking there?!? (As a non-gambler, there's no way I'd want to gamble $20 just to save $5 on parking!)

(There was no other exit lane open, and I couldn't think of anything to do to avoid paying the $5 other than to continue arguing, seemingly endlessly, with her!)

Btw, I was staying at the Embassy Suites a couple blocks away, not the Hilton. But I could see how very convenient the casino park is to the Hilton. It does seem easy enough to just cross the street, I'm not sure (unless there's bad weather) why you'd need to bother searching for some walkway (which I didn't see).
