1. I've never heard them ask anyone for proof of employment. One of their managers once told me that something like 70% of their reservations have an AWD attached. I certainly would have heard them ask for proof of employment at least once, then, if that were the case.
2. Yes. That's pretty much universal in the car rental industry.
