Where do they host the servers such that losing that cable would have this sort of effect? Also somewhat surprising that routing protocols haven't stepped in and gotten around the issues.

ETA: Just did a trace and it seems the IP is hosted in the UK which makes it even more strange that a submarine cable from France to Singapore is causing the issues. Unless they are hosting the site in India and providing back-haul to the UK on a private line, but that would be a rather ridiculous configuration.
